Since the introduction of the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 (TASA 2009), It is unlawful to engage a bookkeeper who is not a registered BAS Agent for the purpose of performing BAS solutions for your business against a fee.
Professionals who are found practicing bookkeeping this way are subject to serious fines and penalties! Hence BAS services, as they can only be performed by BAS Agents (like us!) are not the same as general bookkeeping services.
