BAS Agent

As of 01 March 2010, the bookkeeping industry became regulated by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). This regulation ensures that bookkeepers adhere to professional standards and maintain the integrity of financial services. Currently, all bookkeepers who provide Business Activity Statement (BAS) services are required to be registered as BAS Agents with the ATO. This registration guarantees that bookkeepers have the necessary qualifications and knowledge to handle BAS and GST-related tasks accurately and in compliance with Australian tax laws. It also provides business owners with greater confidence that their financial records are being managed by professionals who meet the industry’s legal and ethical standards
